Michele Bachmann says God sent hurricane and earthquake as a message to Washington. Even as a joke, that's offensive and she should know better.

We all say things that in retrospect we wished we hadn't. Thankfully, most of us don't have the national media around us when we do that. However, Bachmann is running for the highest position in the country and she is surrounded by "handlers," and someone, somewhere, should tell her to stick to the script. She's providing such great one-liners that she has become laughable. And unelectable.

… the audience knows the speaker is joking. Rep. Bachman has enough material in the public record that sounds as nutty as this that it still isn't clear she actually was joking.
