Frank Batten Sr.

Frank Batten believed strongly that an educated and engaged citizenry is essential if we are to sustain our democratic experiment. His support for Colonial Williamsburg’s education for citizenship initiative, and in particular for the creation of a Web site (iCitizenForum.com) to promote discussion about the roles, rights and responsibilities of citizens, reflects his values, his extraordinary generosity and his innovative spirit. He touched thousands of lives and advanced the work of countless institutions through his thoughtful philanthropy. He will be sorely missed.
